Consultations with Local Authorities and non-governmental organisations
In order to exchange ideas and practical applications for tackling food waste, the LIFE FOODPrint project team carried out a series of consultation activities with Local Authorities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across Cyprus. These activities were organised online due to the restrictive measures from 29 January to 25 February in each province of free Cyprus, aiming to inform and raise awareness among stakeholders on the multiple aspects of the food waste problem.
The activities and presentations were made by Kyriakos Parponas, Sustainable Development Consultant, who also analysed the findings of the surveys carried out in the framework of the project on food waste.
The presentations attracted great interest from the participants. In the discussions that followed there was a great interest in promoting sustainable solutions for food waste reduction, prevention, social food supply and food waste management.
LIFE FOODPrint is the first nationwide food waste campaign. It is funded by the EU’s LIFE programme and supports Cyprus’ efforts to achieve the 50% food waste reduction target by 2030.
The partnership of the “FoodPrint” campaign with the slogan “no more food waste”, consists of the “Zeus” Group, OEB, the Department of Environment, Friends of the Earth and the environmental consultants “Parpounas Sustainability Consultants” and communication consultants “Opinion and Action”.
The actions and objectives of the project include, among others, surveys, seminars for pupils and students, consultations with businesses, professionals and organised groups, publication of guides, creation of a network of cooperation for food supply and a series of environmental actions,
