Experiences and good practices of Life projects- Online meeting of FoodPrint team with Climate Smart Chefs of Italy
A productive meeting to exchange experiences and good practices was organised by the FoodPrint team with the stakeholders of a similar Life programme from Italy – Climate Smart Chefs. The meeting was held online on Wednesday, 29 June 2022 as part of the networking, exchange and dissemination activities between stakeholders from all over Europe working on relevant environmental issues.
The FoodPrint group presented its activities focusing on the innovative tools it has created as well as the educational and audiovisual material it has prepared. The Italian partners showed particular interest in FoodPrint’s “Food Waste Calculator”, a prototype web-based tool that measures the impact of food waste in an easy way for households and businesses. The Italians are keen to leverage the Waste Calculator as they too are preparing a platform to measure the carbon footprint of food preparation by professional cooks. Their project focuses on chefs across Europe to pioneer food recipes to reduce environmental impact.
The FoodPrint team suggested to the Climate Smart Chefs team to continue contact in the coming months, exchanging information on the progress of their projects and organising additional networking meetings. The aim is to promote, each in their own networks, the Food Calculator prepared by the FoodPrint team and the web applications that the Italians are planning.
The FoodPrint team will develop in the autumn networking activities with the cook associations in Cyprus and the professional training schools, while bringing them in contact with the Italians.
