OEB – FoodPrint awards to businesses
The Federation of Employers & Industrialists (OEB) with all the partner organisations of the Life – FOODPrint programme, announce the holding of an awards competition for businesses that are distinguished and stand out for their actions and practices to reduce food waste.
In an announcement by the OEB with the partners of the Life – FoodPrint programme, the terms of the competition for rewarding businesses that operate in the hospitality, catering and food service sectors and fall under the economic activities are disclosed: Hotels, Restaurants and Food Processing Businesses.
The aim of the awards is to highlight good practices implemented by businesses in Cyprus to reduce food waste and food waste, to transfer knowledge and know-how between businesses and to reward businesses, which through their actions and policies, contribute to the reduction of food waste, the more efficient use of raw materials and the modernisation of their production line, by incorporating circular practices.
The announcement of the OEB’s awards with Life – FoodPrint partners also coincides with the 29th of September, which has been established as the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste
Interested businesses can apply and be nominated for one of the 3 Award Categories:
Α. Hospitality (Hotels)
- 1st Prize (Gold)
- 2nd Prize (Silver)
- 3rd Prize (Bronze)
Β. Restaurants
- 1st Prize (Gold)
- 2nd Prize (Silver)
- 3rd Prize (Bronze)
Γ. Manufacturing Sector
1 distinction
The assessment is based on criteria such as food waste prevention practices, staff training, number of actions and events organised/ undertaken or participated in by the company in relation to food waste reduction issues.

The winning businesses will be awarded at an award ceremony which is expected to take place in December 2021.

The LIFE-FOODprint project is entitled “Awareness-raising campaign to prevent and manage food waste among consumers, the food and hospitality industries” and is co-funded by the European Commission through the LIFE programme.
