In order to raise awareness, provide the necessary knowledge and develop the required skills and competencies of businesses, regarding the reduction and rational management of food waste, the Federation of Employers and Industrialists in cooperation with the Cyprus Energy Office are running free training seminars for its members. The ultimate aim is to improve the way food waste is managed by businesses operating in the Hospitality, Catering and Food Service sector, leading to the adoption of good, environmentally friendly practices that will also promote the reduction of business costs.

The training seminars are organised in the framework of the implementation of the Life FoodPrint project entitled “Awareness-raising campaign to prevent and manage food waste among consumers, the food and hospitality industries” and co-funded by the European Commission through the LIFE programme.

What is food waste and why it matters
The topics on which the seminars will focus will be:
* Presentation of the current situation of food waste in Cypriot businesses.
* Sustainable food management – waste prevention and management.
* Value creation strategy from food waste.

How to avoid wastefulness, waste management, waste management and waste management strategies. The seminars can be attended at:

Food Platform

It is worth mentioning that for several months now, a Food Platform has been operating with great success. Specifically, food businesses or food industry businesses that have leftover food, instead of throwing it away and destroying our environment at the same time, proceed to donate it to people in need through a relevant platform operated and managed by “Friends of the Earth Cyprus”.
